Comparing Three Hydrological Models for Flash Flood Simulations in 13 Humid and Semi-humid Mountainous Catchments

چکیده

Flash flood disaster ranks top among all the natural hazards across world due to its high frequency, severity and fatality. However, flash simulation is still challenging in small medium-sized catchments with complex orography, flashy hydrological responses poor observations. Three distributed models, i.e., TOPModel, HEC CNFF, are selected simulate floods seven humid six semi-humid China, consideration of water balance (RER), peak flow rate (REQ) occurrence time (TP), hydrograph variation (SNSE) model uncertainty. Influences five catchment attributes further investigated on individual performances. All three models perform satisfactorily catchments, but less catchments. Water well obtained by followed TOPModel. Peak most accurately captured CNFF HEC, respectively. Hydrograph variations reproduced CNFF. TOPModel performs for picking Uncertainty interval narrowest average relative length at 95% confidence level being 0.78 ~ 2.53. Most observations bracketed uncertainty intervals (64.79% ~ 91.91% total). performance indices (i.e., RER, REQ, SNSE) mainly affected drainage area forest ratio while TP mean slope

Simulation of the catchments hydrological processes in arid, semi-arid and semi-humid areas

Hydrological processes and their spatial distribution directly are relevant to climate, topography, geology, and land use in the watershed. Therefore, use of a model whit integrity and high performance for simulating the process in deferent watersheds is very important. In this study was assessment performance of semi-distributed SWAT model in simulating hydrology processes in three watersheds ...

Study on Applicability of Conceptual Hydrological Models for Flood Forecasting in Humid, Semi-Humid Semi-Arid and Arid Basins in China

Flood simulation and forecasting in various types of watersheds is a hot issue in hydrology. Conceptual hydrological models have been widely applied to flood forecasting for decades. With the development of economy, modern China faces with severe flood disasters in all types of watersheds include humid, semi-humid semi-arid and arid watersheds. However, conceptual model-based flood forecasting ...

Forage quality of three life forms of rangeland species in semi arid and semi humid regions in different phenological stages

For determination of grazing capacity, information of forage quality is essential which is influenced by various factors. The main objective of this research was investigation on effects of species, phenological stages, and life form on values of forage quality indices of six range species. Species were two grasses (Bromus tomentellus and Dactylis glomerata), two forbs (Ferula ovina and Coronil...

Effect of land use and hydrological processes on Escherichia coli concentrations in streams of tropical, humid headwater catchments

Lack of access to clean water and adequate sanitation continues to be a major brake on development. Here we present the results of a 12-month investigation into the dynamics of Escherichia coli, a commonly used indicator of faecal contamination in water supplies, in three small, rural catchments in Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. We show that land use and hydrology are major controlling factors of ...
